Archiving Policy

This policy outlines the guidelines for archiving and preserving the content of the International Bulletin of History and Social Science (IBHSS) to ensure its long-term accessibility and scholarly value. The policy aims to establish procedures for collecting, organizing, and preserving the journal's content in a reliable and accessible format.

Scope

This policy applies to all content published in the International Bulletin of History and Social Science, including:

  • Articles
  • Book reviews
  • Research notes
  • Letters to the editor
  • Other published materials

Archiving Procedures

  1. Digital Preservation:

    • Format Conversion: All content will be converted into a digital format that is widely supported and easily accessible, such as Portable Document Format (PDF).
    • Metadata: Detailed metadata will be associated with each item, including:
      • Author information
      • Title
      • Publication date
      • Abstract
      • Keywords
      • Digital Object Identifier (DOI)
    • Storage: Digital content will be stored on a reliable, redundant storage system that is protected against data loss and corruption.
    • Access Control: Access to the digital archive will be restricted to authorized personnel and researchers.
  2. Long-Term Preservation:

    • Migration: The journal will regularly review and migrate digital content to newer formats and storage technologies to ensure its long-term preservation.
    • Data Backup: Regular backups of the digital archive will be created and stored in a secure, off-site location.
    • Disaster Recovery Plan: A disaster recovery plan will be in place to address potential data loss or system failures.
  3. Physical Preservation:

    • Microfilming: A microfilm copy of the journal will be created as a backup to the digital archive.
    • Storage: Microfilm copies will be stored in a climate-controlled environment.

Access and Use

  • Public Access: The journal will make its content publicly accessible through its website or other online platforms.
  • Copyright: Copyright restrictions will be adhered to, and appropriate permissions will be obtained for the use of copyrighted material.
  • Citation: Proper citation of the journal and its content will be required.
